Happy Trails and Puppy Dog Tales

After winter break is over and students are back in their routine, all teachers can think about are the lazy days of summer! All the free time, sleeping in, hanging out with friends, shopping and trips. So much for that! Meet Maizie my new obsession. :) School wasn’t even out for 24 hours and I had new puppy. What was I thinking? Puppies are hard work! Needless to say I have not been sleeping in. At a whopping 1.8lbs Maizie is packed full of energy. Personally I think she is part cat. She LOVES to pounce, hop, run and play with everything but the cute toys that I have bought for her. Ok, that’s not true. She does love her fish on a string that I purchased from the kitten section. Her other favorite things to play with are my fuzzy sleeping socks and toilet paper rolls. Maizie keeps me on my toes, and hopefully she will let me keep all of them. I can’t believe that four weeks have passed. Maizie better get a jump on it. She only has six weeks left to train me.

Happy Trails on Happy Trails

Howdy Pardner....

The 2008 Rodeo season has started. For one week my class studied Texas History. In honor of "Go Texan" Day My kiddos created their own cowboys and cowgirls. What seemed to be an easy project in my lesson plans, took over 3 days to complete. It's a good thing I started early! I will spend next week teaching about cowboys/cowgirls and rodeo. Maybe I am a True "Texan" now...

Did You Ever Wonder....

What the Tooth Fairy does with your teeth? I had NO clue of the cool things that He/She could do! According to my class the Tooth Fairy can turn your tooth into

* a castle
* money
* a present
* a book
* or more teeth

I don't know about you, but I am thinking of pulling out some teeth. I wonder what the going rate is these days. :) Happy Dental Health Month!

Tis the Holiday Season

Wow, where has time gone? My second year of Kindergarten has been passing me by way too fast and I have not had a chance to catch my breath. I will say it's been a very interesting year with many new firsts...Anywho, Thanksgiving is over, Christmas is in the picture and New Years is around the corner. I am hoping these soldiers will put us more in the Holiday spirit. It is hard to teach the winter holidays with the temperature being 83 degrees. Rumor has it that a "cold" or should I say "cool" front will be blowing in next week. It will sure make it easier to discuss Santa pulling his sled and delivering presents to all the good boys and girls. Hhmmm, I wonder what the odds are that there will be a White Christmas in Houston this year. I know, slim to none! However, it doesn't hurt to dream, does it?

Camp Zoofari 2007

I have come "Full Circle"...I can not believe that summer is here and I have spent another four weeks at Camp Zoofari. The campers were cute and the staff again was awesome! As much as I said I didn't like it, it was all worth it in the end. I am sure I will be back next summer. :)

Time Flies!

Tomorrow starts the beginning of my last week of school. It has been a wonderful year. So many changes took place. My kiddos changed from caterpillars to butterflies. They are no longer kindergartners, but ready for first grade. It is incredible to look back and see how much they have changed physically, mentally and emotionally. Last week I completed their end of the year testing. I was in aw to see how much they had learned. I really taught them! I will spend this week playing with them and packing up my classroom. In away it's sad, but there is always next year. Hard to believe that I am already thinking about next year.
